Our History
BENALIFE, like many new companies, is the culmination of a dream of its founder: Luis N. Pacheco, MD.
As a youth, as a student, as a mentor and coach to young soccer players, as a Medical Practitioner and as a teacher of Medicine, Dr Pacheco has always dreamed of a way to extend his desire for others to enjoy a richer, healthier and more meaningful life. This dream has finally culminated in BENALIFE INTERNATIONAL: a better life, a richer life, a more healthy life and a more rewarding life.
To bring this dream to life, Dr. Pacheco, looked at all of the elements necessary to accomplish his goals:
- A Company where he can bring the insight he has gained from his years of hands-on Medical experience to large groups of people worldwide, so that they can benefit from his Medical knowledge and experiences. He selected Network Marketing as a means to reach millions of people world wide.
- Products that can deliver excellent health benefits at a reasonable price. He has personally formulated outstanding health and beauty products that offer numerous benefits and can be priced to be affordable to all.
- A means whereby anyone from any walk of life can join the Company, use the products, sell the products, invite others to join him/her in the Company and receive a fair compensation for doing so. The income opportunity should be unlimited; be fair to all; be open to all; and should offer a career that is long-term and profitable. Luis N. Pacheco, MD, FAAFP
Founder and Chairman
Dr. Luis Pacheco is Board Certified in the specialties of Family Medicine and Sports Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.
Dr. Pacheco, or “Dr. P” as he is known by his patients, has received numerous awards and recognition for his accomplishments in the medical field and the community including recognition from the American Diabetes Association, the “Head Start” National Educational Program, The University of Southern California School of Medicine - Family Medicine Teaching Program, “America’s Top Doctors” recognition from the Consumers Research Council of America, and has also been given Congressional recognition for his work with the American Youth Soccer Association (AYSO).
Dr. Pacheco and his team have provided thousands of free health screening exams to high-risk groups in underserved areas over the past twenty years. He has a particular interest in reversing the Diabetes and Obesity epidemic that is devastating millions of families around the globe.
Dr. Pacheco is a Medical Director at California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles and has directed its eight non-profit Community Clinics for Catholic Healthcare West. These Clinics provide medical care for over 100,000 patient visits annually to a predominately underserved minority population.
Academically, Dr. Pacheco served on the Faculty at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California for many years and previously was the Director of
Pre-Doctoral Education for the Department of Family Medicine. He has extensive experience giving academic lectures and training medical students, residents, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and attending physicians.
Dr. Pacheco received his B.A. in Biology from Columbia University in New York, his M.D. from Central University in Puerto Rico with an emphasis on Tropical Medicine and performed his clinical clerkships at Harvard, Tufts and Boston Universities in Boston. He completed his Internship and Residency in Family Medicine at USC and was elected ‘Chief Resident’ his Senior year.
“Dr. P.” is known for his extensive humanitarian activities in the Hispanic Community through numerous fund raising events as well as through his Television and Radio work.
On television, Dr Pacheco appeared daily as the Medical Expert for Univision’s flagship station KMEX TV Channel 34 with his daily health segment, “Ask the Doctor”. KMEX TV is the most widely watched television station in Los Angeles regardless of language. His segments were also broadcast on over 25 other Univision stations throughout the United States. For his work on television, Dr. Pacheco has been honored with the prestigious Emmy Award as well as a Golden Mike Award.
Dr. Pacheco has also been the host of his own daily call in Radio Show on different networks including Univision Radio in Los Angeles, Radio Unica, and Radio Nueva Vida. His shows have been broadcast to over 50 cities across the United States.
In 2003, Dr. Pacheco launched his line of high quality, natural vitamin supplements under the Dr. Pacheco-Naturally brand name. Dr Pacheco’s products have met with unprecedented sales.
Dr. Pacheco is committed to providing the highest quality health products available today. His upbeat style and emphasis on a positive attitude promotes a healthier way of life for all who come into contact with him.
A former NCAA and semi-pro soccer player, Dr. P is active in sports and enjoys coaching soccer with his children, bicycling, water sports, motor racing, reading and enjoying foods from around the world. He has a passion for learning, teaching and improving the lives of those around him. He is truly an inspirational person and leader.
In keeping with Dr. Pacheco’s philosophy of helping others, a portion of all proceeds of BENALIFE is donated to charities, organizations and individuals in need.

Robert C. Lahman
Senior Advisory Board Member
As Chief Operating Officer of BENALIFE, Mr. Lahman has overall responsibility for the company’s business operations in the United States, as well as International markets.
Prior to joining BENALIFE, Mr. Lahman worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over twenty eight years at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Wyeth is a global leader in pharmaceuticals, nutritionals and consumer health care products, and has a long history of pioneering developments in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
For twenty of these years at Wyeth, Mr. Lahman developed and managed successful regional sales teams in California, Hawaii, Texas, Oklahoma. He also ran a national sales force for Health Care Systems at Wyeth’s corporate offices.
As Wyeth’s Vice President, Healthcare Systems Sales, Mr. Lahman managed over one hundred employees with responsibility for strategizing and negotiating over $5 Billion dollars of contracts annually. He was responsible for contracting with managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit management companies, hospital buying groups, drug wholesalers, long-term care, Veteran’s Administration and the Department of Defense.
Also, in his Vice President role he had responsibility for all retail and wholesale distribution in the United States and served as a member of Wyeth’s Pricing Committee and U.S. Sales Council.
Mr. Lahman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and has attended executive management courses at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Executive Management and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Executive Management.
An avid sportsman, Bob enjoys staying fit through swimming, surfing, running and weight training.
Donna J. Masters
Chief Financial Officer
Donna J. Masters has over 20 years experience in Finance, Management and Client Relations.
Prior to joining BENALIFE she served as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo. In that capacity she was responsible for client service and the financial management of over $250 million in High Net Worth, Foundation and Trust Portfolios.
Ms. Masters duties included selecting investments, making all Buy and Sell decisions for her clients, performing investment research on a wide variety of companies, managing client service and acting as a liaison with other Wells Fargo Departments.
Ms. Masters also has extensive experience as a financial analyst having worked at the Reserve Fund in New York City, at Drexel Burnham Lambert in Beverly Hills and for the CBS Television Network in Los Angeles. She has also held the position of Vice President at Roger Engemann Associates, a private investment fund, where she was responsible for private client service.
An active community advocate, Ms. Masters has been involved in the production of hundreds of grass-roots community outreach events.
Ms. Masters has a B.A. from Barnard College in New York, an M.A. in Latin American Studies from New York University and an M.B.A. from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management in Boston.
A passionate International Soccer Fan, Donna enjoys swimming, cycling, literature and watching her favorite soccer teams play.
Eduardo Cancela
Executive Vice President, Marketing, Media Relations and Events
Eduardo Cancela is a Founding member of BENALIFE and serves as BENALIFE’s Executive Vice President of Marketing, Media and Events. Mr. Cancela is a seasoned marketing executive with over 20 years experience working in product placement and media marketing. He has a considerable background working in both television and radio as well as in event marketing including the promotion of major sporting and musical events.
Prior to joining BENALIFE’s management team, Mr. Cancela held Executive Sales and Marketing positions with Univision TV Networks, Telemundo TV Networks, and Spanish Broadcasting Systems Radio Network (SBS). At SBS, Mr. Cancela as Station General Manager was able to turn around the Los Angeles Radio Station’s rating and income which was crucial for SBS to go public.
As a direct result of Mr. Cancela’s actions, SBS had one of the largest public offerings ever held in Radio Broadcast history.
At SBS, Mr. Cancela was promoted to Executive Vice President of New Business Development, where he worked with the Clinton Administration and its members of Congress to pass an executive order that ensured that Federal Advertising should reflect the diversity of the United States. President Clinton signed the Executive Order on Oct 19, 1999.
Today, many minority owned broadcasters and newspapers are still in business thanks to his actions.
Mr.Cancela has produced musical and sporting events at the Los Angeles Coliseum with more than 70,000 people in attendance. He has also produced numerous television, radio and Live Health-related programs for Dr. Luis Pacheco, the most widely-recognized Family Doctor in the U.S. Hispanic market.
Mr. Cancela attended Gardner Webb College were he received a Football scholarship. He received his degree in Business Administration from Mercer College.
Based in BENALIFE’s Corporate Miami offices Mr.Cancela lives with his wife and their three daughters in Coral Gables, Florida.
An outstanding athlete, “Eddy” enjoys cycling, water sports, deep-sea fishing and has a tremendous “joie de vivre” (passion for life)!
